Workshops

Professional development workshops support the presenting and touring field with practical management, leadership and career training. Presenters, artists, agents and managers will find a variety of topics to deepen their knowledge and expand their ways of working.

PAE workshops are organized into four focus areas: Fundamentals, Skills, Issues & Ideas, and Short Attention Span. Fundamentals workshops cover the basics for those new to the topic. Skills workshops provide specialized and in-depth information. Issues & Ideas workshops are designed for experienced professionals who want to dig deeper into an issue. Short Attention Span sessions are just one hour visit to a topic or a roundtable discussion.

Workshops are offered every day of the conference (Thursday, Friday and Saturday) and are included with your registration unless otherwise specified. There is no sign up sheet for these sessions but to ensure a good seat, arrive early.

Facetime

There’s nothing like talking one-on-one with an experienced professional to get your questions answered and specific needs addressed. We’ll be inviting knowledgeable experts in various fields to speak with presenters during 20-minute sessions at PAE.

Face Time provides quick and easy access to experienced professionals in the presenting field. These consultations offer the chance for presenters to meet knowledgeable experts, have one-on-one face time with professional development faculty, seek feedback and clarification on programs, and ask specific questions. In addition, the consultations offer the opportunity to be the first to hear about upcoming changes and critical issues impacting the field. Sessions last up to 20 minutes and are offered on all three days of the conference (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday). Presenters sign-up for appointments on the spot in the registration area.

State Consortium Meetings

At PAE we offer state arts agencies and regional arts agencies the opportunity to convene presenters from their states or regions to discuss issues related to the field. Meeting rooms will be published in the conference program and there is no sign up for these activities.

New Colleague Program

First-time PAE attendees are invited to participate in this program where you can learn from an assigned mentor how to make the most of your time at the conference. Program sign-up is a part of your registration form so be sure to indicate on the form if you would like to participate. If you have already submitted your registration form contact Ethan Messere to be added to the sign up list.

Special Interest Meetings

At PAE you can hear the most up-to-date news about the performing arts field. One of the ways we provide this service is with our special interest meetings.

Roundtable Discussions

This is your opportunity to lead a discussion of your own choosing. For roundtable discussions we provide the time and space and allow you to self-direct a discussion, forum, or affinity group on any issues that are important to you and your colleagues. Let us know and we will post signs on our updates board inviting attendees to join.
